FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. What happens if I delete an object in SNMPc that is in the "Down" state? - It will be set in the "Up" state upon next sync with SNMPc, and after midnight it will be removed from the monitoring list. 2. What happens if I disable polling on an object in SNMPc that is in the "Down" state? - The Same as above (implicit that you acknowledge the active alarm). 3. Is it possible to have overlapping Groups? - Yes, a node or a link in SNMPc could belong to more than one Monitoring Group. NB! License is computed as: sumObjectsGroup1 + sumObjectsGroup2 ... + sumObjectsGroupN 4. If I add a new device in SNMPc when will I see it in Easy SLM? - If you add a device today, monitoring for that device will be started after midnight. So during the next day you are going to see the device in the Easy SLM Console - Report / Status Today. After this day the device is included in the web reports. KNOWN PROBLEMS 1. The Easy SLM Service will not start if the NT Event Log (Appl) is full. - Empty the Event Log and change properties to 'Overwrite as needed'. 2. If you install the software on an IBM Netfinity Server there is a conflict between the IBM SNMP Agent and the Easy SLM Service Component. - Stop the IBM SNMP Agent. 3. Creation of web reports fails if you have a directory path called C:\Program and install Easy SLM in the directory path C:\Program Files\EasySLM. - Change the directory C:\Program to C:\Program1 or reinstall Easy SLM in the directory C:\Program\EasySLM. 4. A node name in SNMPc must also be a valid file name in Windows. Ex. The node name "switch:02" is not a valid file name and accordingly an error will occur when the node report is created in the EventLogs directory. - Rename the node in SNMPc. 5. Easy SLM version 4.11 and greater now uses InstallShield based on MSI. If you upgrade from a lower version you will see duplicate entries of Easy SLM in the "Add/Remove Program". - No problem has been observed, so the best is to just accept it. 6. Installation on Windows 2008. - Make sure you have Administrator priviligies, and that you right-click on the setupfile and choose 'run as Administrator' if UAC is turned on.
